This one was a full rebuild from the roofline up. When a chimney gets to the point where patching and repointing won't cut it anymore, a complete reconstruction is the only real fix - and that's exactly what this Osterville home needed.

The masonry work speaks for itself. Fresh brick laid clean and tight, with consistent mortar joints throughout. Getting the brickwork right is the foundation of a chimney that holds up over time, but it's only part of the equation. The detail work at the base is where a lot of contractors cut corners.

We don't. For this job, we fabricated custom lead-coated copper pan flashing to seal the transition between the chimney and the roof. Lead-coated copper is a premium material for good reason - it conforms well, it doesn't corrode, and it bonds properly without cracking or pulling away the way cheaper alternatives do. It's the kind of flashing that handles coastal weather and temperature swings without failing.

The pan flashing sits flush at the base of the chimney, lapping cleanly over the roofline and stepping up along the sides. That tight fit is what stops water from working its way into the roof deck. Water intrusion at the chimney base is one of the most common - and most expensive - problems we see in homes across Cape Cod. Getting the flashing right the first time saves homeowners from dealing with rot, interior leaks, and structural damage down the road.

A chimney rebuild done right isn't just about making it look good from the street. It's about every layer working together - solid masonry, quality materials, and details that hold up for years without attention. That's what we delivered here.
