Front Entry Step Built Right on a New Home in Brewster

When a new home goes up, the front entry is the first thing anyone sees. It sets the tone for the whole house. So it needs to be built right - not just functional, but sharp enough to hold its own against a well-finished exterior.

This Brewster build gave us exactly that kind of opportunity. The home itself is clean and classic - gray shingle siding, a bold navy door, crisp white trim. Our job was to make sure the entry step matched that level of finish. Nothing sloppy, nothing that looked like an afterthought.

What we put together is a stacked natural stone base topped with a wide bluestone landing. The stone coursing on the riser is tight and level, and the bluestone surface gives you a solid, flat platform right at the door. It ties into a bluestone walkway that leads out to the lawn - so the whole entry flows as one cohesive unit rather than a few disconnected pieces.

That continuity matters more than most people realize. When the step, the landing, and the walkway are all cut from the same material and laid with the same care, the finished product looks intentional. Like it was always supposed to be there. That's what separates masonry work that adds real value from work that just fills a gap.
