This one was a serious build. We constructed a full custom stone chimney from the ground up in Dennis, MA - and the finishing touch was setting a heavy granite cap right on top. That last step is no small task. Granite is dense, unforgiving, and incredibly heavy. Getting it placed cleanly and accurately on top of a rooftop chimney takes more than muscle.
That's exactly why we brought in a crane. You don't manhandle a slab like that by hand - not safely, not precisely. Using a crane to lift and set the cap lets us control the placement with a level of accuracy that matters. One wrong move and you're dealing with cracked stone, a compromised seal, or worse. We don't cut corners on something that's meant to protect your home for decades.
The stonework itself on this chimney is something we're proud of. Each course was laid tight and true, with natural stone selected and fitted to give it that solid, built-to-last look. A chimney like this isn't just functional - it becomes a defining feature of the house. On Cape Cod, where the architecture tends to carry character, that matters.
The granite cap is the final layer of defense. It keeps rain, debris, and critters out of the flue while adding a clean, finished look to the top of the structure. When it's set right - flush, level, and properly sealed - it can handle whatever New England weather throws at it. That's the goal every time.
We handle chimney and fireplace work of all sizes across Cape Cod, from repairs and rebuilds to full custom builds like this one. If you've got a chimney project on your radar, we have the crew and the equipment to do it right.
